I don’t like Aldric. I didn’t immediately, though I must thank him for making Adriana’s life a pain because otherwise they’d be nothing to read. He’s the one that summons Adriana and ties her to him. He’s selfish, and jealous, and seeks to only exploit Adriana. Adriana annoyed me a first, she was a spoilt, pampered princess but she grows into a more mature demon that knows that she has to rule her kingdom. I’m going by my policy of no spoilers, so I won’t reveal too much about the story. Keldrin is a nice guy that Adriana ultimately falls for. He’s the only one that seems to care about Adriana and treat her as an equal. It’s not much of a spoiler, we all know he’s the male character that the female characters will fall for.
I don’t really know what to say about the plot really. Adriana is stuck being a slave to Aldric but then she finds a spell that will break their bond! But, to break the bond, she will require consent from Aldric, and he’s not likely to say yes if she’s helped to put him in the top class…
Kassandra Lynn keeps things concise and doesn’t spend paragraphs and paragraphs describing mountains and hills. The book is relatively quick paced but it’s not particularly full of emotion. Until the last pages…Speaking of which, the kiss was written so badly… ><
He captures me in his arms and crushes his warm lips onto mine. His hand cradles my neck to prevent my escape, and his hot tongue invades every corner of my mouth.
Bleurgh. That sounds unpleasant. It sounded more like a sexual assault than a passionate first-kiss. The biggest complaint (other than the kiss) is the beginning. The first few pages were so bland. Nothing about it made me want to go on. The book got soooooo much better after those initial pages though, and I wanted to keep reading. Strangely enough, the book is listed under “YA” yet it read like a Children’s book. It was simple, and fast. The language was simple too and nothing screamed “AGE RESTRICTED” at me. Although that being said, I’m not saying that this is a book only children will like. Far from it.
Fight through the first few pages and you’ll find yourself immersed sooner or later. The book is simple, and Kassandra Lynn has a strange style of writing, one I can’t quite describe. It is perfect if you’re looking for a light read and I don’t think this book receives enough attention. Definitely looking to read the rest.

Owned: Yes! The author herself contacted me, and sent me a copy!
Recommended for: children, teenagers and those that can’t stick with a long novel. This book is short and fast so it is good for those that are trying to read more. Also recommended for you if you like mild romance and demons and mages.
